Sleep Apnea and Insomnia Symptoms

The most common symptoms of sleep apnea include:

  • Loud snoring, possibly with pauses that can be followed by gasping or choking
  • Episodes where you stop breathing while you sleep, as witnessed by another person
  • Sudden awakenings from sleep that are accompanied by shortness of breath
  • Waking up with a dry mouth or a sore throat
  • Difficulty staying asleep (insomnia)
  • Morning headache
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Irritability
  • Difficulty paying attention
