Pulmonary Hypertension Program

When a person experiences high blood pressure in their lungs, it is called pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension may be caused by a variety of different conditions or factors. For this reason, getting an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment for both the pulmonary hypertension itself and the underlying cause is crucial to effectively manage the condition.

At the Temple Lung Center, members of the pulmonary hypertension team work closely with specialists who treat the conditions that can cause or contribute to pulmonary hypertension, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obstructive sleep apnea, sarcoidosis, and others. Instead of receiving referrals for treatments and services at other facilities, Temple is able to provide excellent, coordinated care from diagnosis all the way to lung transplant surgery, under the same roof, making it a destination for treatment of pulmonary hypertension.

Temple’s pulmonary hypertension specialists have experience prescribing and overseeing the most advanced medical therapies available, including subcutaneous and intravenous prostanoid medications, and are involved in clinical trials that evaluate new treatments and therapies. Patients at Temple have access to an extensive slate of ongoing clinical trials, which may allow them to receive the most advanced treatments before they become available to the public.
