What We Treat

The goal at Temple’s Chronic Cough Program is to narrow down the possible causes of a chronic cough. Depending on how long it lasts, there are three categories of cough, all of which are treated at Temple:
  • Acute cough: Lasts less than 3 weeks and is commonly caused by infection, asthma, or allergies
  • Subacute cough: Lasts 3 to 8 weeks and often remains after an initial infection is over
  • Chronic cough: Lasts more than 8 weeks and can be caused by various long-term conditions
